Elevator Sales

China Peaks 600,000 Elevator Units

Last year China sold an amazing 600,000 elevator units, 65% of the world's gross elevator sales. But, elevator industry experts say that will probably be the last time China sees sales figures like that. The current year's expectations are a modest 500,000 elevator units. Sales figures are expected to fall further in coming years to stabilise at much lower levels.

China is battling a construction slowdown as it faces a surplus of urban apartments as well as a slowdown of it's people moving to urban spaces. The growth of the Chinese construction industry during the past decade has left construction industry experts breathless by it's sheer pace.

The Indian elevator industry in turn had been posting a modest 13.5% growth since 2001. It is expected to surpass growth figures of 20% by 2018.
